April 2014 Recipes

Seeing that we will probably be eating copious amounts of easter eggs and hot cross buns in the coming weeks, I’ve decided to include a few low-carb recipes in this newsletter to balance out the increased intake of carbs.  Whether you are following a low carb lifestyle or not, try them, you won’t be disappointed.  I also include a few of Carolié’s recipes as usual.

Carolié de Koster contributed recipes from the Greek cuisine from her popular Art of Cooking Recipe Book.  If you would like to order a copy of Carolié’s book, please contact me for more information.

The letter below accompanied this month’s selection of recipes.

Hi dear South African Foodies!
The past couple of weeks proved to me that the Art of Cooking is a timeless recipe book!  For 9 weeks solid we had house guests from England, South Africa and Australia at Comore Cottage in Omokoroa, New Zealand and we did not repeat a meal twice!  Most of the dishes and baking came form Art of Cooking – and even a good restaurant can hardly offer anything better! More guests are arriving from South Africa next week for another three weeks and the shopping list is made…. again out of Art of Cooking!  Enjoy the Greek Menu – it may be used as one menu or several meals and the soup can be kept in the freezer to have ready at short notice. Another freezer treat is Baklava which is good for any time when a sweet treat is needed and I keep it in the freezer in small containers all the time.  Enjoy!  Carolié

If you are planning on a trip to New-Zealand, you might want to consider staying at Carolié Guest House, Comore Cottage, in Omokoroa, Tauranga.  It will be a home-away-from-home experience like no other!
