Are you looking for a unique activity to keep the kids entertained at your child’s next birthday party? Look no further. Our culinary parties/events are popular with girls and boys from age 5! We’ll keep the kids busy so that you can relax and enjoy your child’s party too! You deserve it! We offer a mobile culinary service, so we can come to you! Just let us know when and where! We will bring everything required for the activity, so you can sit back and enjoy the party too! Just let us know when and where! We are based in JHB, but service all areas in Gauteng.
During the party each recipe is demonstrated to the children step-by-step and each child takes part in making the items from start to finish. Kids get to take the fruit of their labour home and tell Mom and Dad: I made it myself! Most of them eat it right away though! During the activity the kids will learn about kitchen hygiene, basic cooking methods, accurate measuring, ingredients and recipes. Party Options
We have two options to choose from. Our standard option is called “I made it myself!” and our luxury option is called Masterchef. With our masterchef option the kids either make more complicated items or we use more expensive ingredients. We also have a cooking option for kids 12+ years. Please make contact for more info.
Date
Please let us know which date you have in mind. We recommend that you contact us 4 to 6 weeks before your child’s birthday, especially if you would like the party to take place on a Saturday as it is the most popular day of the week! You are welcome to contact us with last minute request too. If we are available, we will assist.
Times
Morning session (9:30 to 12:00) or afternoon session (14:30 to 17:00). We need to stick to these time slots in order to accommodate more than one party on a Saturday. You are welcome to let us know at what time you would like the activity to start on weekdays or a Sunday and we will confirm availability.
Age Group
From 5 years.
We recommend that if you book our Masterchef option and you would like the activity to have a competition format, the recommended age is 10+ years. Please make contact for more info.
Venue Options
Option 1:
The party can take place at your house or venue, e.g. a club house in your complex. We’ve done parties in dining rooms, garages and on patio’s. Please note that we need to set-up 45 minutes before the starting time of the activity.
Option 2:
If you prefer to host the party at a venue, e.g. a coffee shop, party venue, etc. the venue needs to have the following: an area/room where the culinary activity can take place, a kitchen with an oven that is in working order (we have options if there is no oven too), an area for you to set up the party food and for the kids to go to during the breaks and an area for the adults to sit (if applicable). Once you’ve paid a deposit to book our culinary activity, we would be happy to help you to find a venue. Please make contact for more info.
Language
You can choose the language in which the party will be conducted, i.e. “I made it myself!” or “Ek het dit self gemaak!”. Please specify your language choice on the booking form.
Themes
The items the kids make are age-specific and delicious! We have a few popular themes to choose from, e.g. Takeaways With A Twist, Cupcake Couture, Llama Love, etc. We can also design items to tie in with the party’s theme, e.g. Alice In Wonderland, Aladdin, Among Us, Army, Ballerina, Big Hero 6, Bunnies, Butterbean’s Cafe, Construction, Dinosaur, Dragon, Encanto, Farm Animals, Flamingo, Fortnite, FRIENDS, Frozen, Harry Potter, Llama, LOL, Mermaid, Minecraft, Mickey Mouse, Minions, Moana, Owl, Paw Patrol, Panda, Puppy, Racing Cars, Red Riding Hood, Sing, Shaun The Sheep, The Secret Life of Pets, Unicorn, Wild Animals, Woodlands and many more! Fee
– Standard option: R260.00 per child with a minimum party fee of R2600.00 (i.e. if there are less than 10 kids the fee will be fixed at R2600.00).
– Masterchef option: R310.00 child with a minimum party fee of R3100.00 (i.e. if there are less than 10 kids the fee will be fixed at R3100.00). Please note that all cooking themes will fall under this option, e.g. pizza wheels, hamburgers, lasagne, etc.
– Cooking option: R360.00 child with a minimum party fee of R3600.00 (i.e. if there are less than 10 kids the fee will be fixed at R3600.00).

Included:
– a culinary party during which a variety of sweet and savoury age specific recipes will be prepared. The choice of recipes is determined by the average age and size of the group and will be discussed with the organiser of the party. The items the kids make can be tied in with the theme of the party, e.g. Alice in Wonderland, Among Us, Ballerina, Beauty & The Beast, Cars, Cinderella, Circus, Construction, Cowboy/Cowgirl, Dinosaurs, Doc McStuffins, Emoji, Finding Nemo/Dory, Friends, Frozen, Harry Potter, Llama, Mermaid/Under The Sea, Minecraft, Minion, Minnie/Micky Mouse, Moana, Paw Patrol, Pirates, Princess, Puppy, Smurfs, Space, Star Wars, Storks, Superheroes, Unicorn, Toy Story, Trolls and many more!
– all ingredients and equipment required for the culinary party. All you need to provide is an oven (if the party takes places at your house or venue). No-bake items also available.
– a comprehensive recipe booklet for each of the attendees to take home
– a chef’s hat for each child
– the use of Cooking Up A Storm’s tables and table cloths for the duration of the culinary activity
– an electronic invite which can be sent to guests via email or Whatsapp.
– the use of Cooking Up A Storm aprons for the duration of the party (the white ones with the purple Cooking Up A Storm logo in the photo’s below). Customised aprons can also be ordered. – Travel cost to your house or venue (R8 per km)
– Prize(s) for the winner(s) in the case of a Masterchef party
– Birthday cake – we can recommend suppliers
– Party decorations, e.g. balloons, streamers, hats, themed table cloths, etc.
– Party packs for the kids
– Party food for kids – the items the kids make during the party can be eaten as part of the party food
