In September this year, real food and reel films will be showcased at the Hartiwood Film and Food Show (HFAFS). We all know that “dinner-and-a-movie” is a recipe for date-night success. The Hartiwood Food & Film Show will put a unique spin on this winning combination, pairing fine food and films in a culinary adventure with French flair.
Set amidst former film sets from the Hartiwood Film Production French Toast, the food and film show has a deliciously francophone theme. HFAFS market goers should expect the finest of French cheeses, patisserie and wines – to name a few.
During the day, stalls at the artisan food and wine market will be grouped according to French culinary categories and visitors will have the opportunity to experience the cuisines of French speaking North, West and Central Africa as well as the islands of Mauritius and Reunion. Visitors will also be able to explore the Francophone influence of Huguenot cuisine on South Africa.
Al fresco screenings of The Hundred-Foot Journey movie will be paired with a three course gala dinner prepared by celebrity chef Coco Reinarhz. Wine pairings will accompany each course. See my post Review: The 100-Foot Journey Movie for more info on this must-see foodie movie.
Charismatic cinematic legend Koos Roets will be sharing his knowledge of the SA movie industry and his epic collection of historic film making memorabilia. You will also have the opportunity to listen to pianist and composer Machiel Roets accompanying turn of the century silent movie classics on the piano.
It promises to be a feast for all the senses. See you there!
