Cool Kitchen Tool: French Crush Cups

One of my favourite cookware items in my kitchen is my Revol Crush Cups, also known as  crumpled cups.  The classic Crumpled Cup was designed by Rob Brandt in 1975 and are now available in many stores that stock bakeware.

It was love at first sight when I saw the cups on display at the BHV Department Store in Paris, France a few years ago.  The cups are designed to look like disposable paper cups, but since they’re made of beautiful glazed porcelain, they are anything but disposable and they are great for baking, freezing and serving everything from coffee to starters and desserts.   They are also heat resistant, shock resistant and chip resistant, which is great if you have kids in the house!

The Revol range also includes coffee cups, water goblets, utensil holders, vases and champagne buckets that come in various shiny, matte and colored glazes.  I shopped around for a good price, and managed to buy my Espresso-sized crush cups for around R40.00 a cup.  They are anything from R130.00 in South African stores!
