This is simply the best cooking book I’ve ever seen. Everything from how to poach an egg to how to make roast chicken or pies. My parents bought this book for me when I moved out of home and boy was it needed. The beginning of the book explains everything about cooking techniques, like boiling, braising and frying. It rates recipes according to cost, simplicity and healthiness. The only thing I miss in mine is an index. The recipes are divided into snacks & starters, stocks and soups, eggs, fish, meat, sauces, vegies, potatoes pasta rice and cereals, salads, desserts, cakes, pies and pastries, quick bakes, rusks biscuits, pastry, baking with yeast. That’s good enough to find what you’re looking for. They’re not kidding when they say on the front cover “More than 1001 choice recipes”. I simply love this book. Even after 8 years, I still find myself paging through it for ideas.  Anonymous
